There are several advantages to playing Weak-Two Bids. First of all, the bid is very descriptive. An opening bid of two spades tells partner the shape of your hand, as well as the fact that you do not have opening points.
A weak-two opening bid must meet the following requirements:
1. It must contain a six-card suit;
2. The high-card points must be 5 to 11 (no more, no less); and
3. The hand must not contain an outside-major suit with three or more cards.
If you open a Weak Two, you should basically have a one-suited hand that is too weak to open. Partnerships playing Weak Twos agree that their strong opening bid is Two Clubs.
